Last April, Cyndee suggested that I take one of her classes. I set a date, invited friends and made some of my favorite party refreshments. After all, when people come to my house for "parties" they know the food will be good.
When my friends arrived, and Cyndee started her presentation, I have to say I was not only impressed right away, but immediately humbled.
You see, I consider myself a pretty intimidating chick. I'm not a tiny woman, and I tend to carry myself with good posture, I don't look at my feet when I walk, I pay attention to my surroundings, and I have no trouble with eye contact. You can imagine how impressed I was when Cyndee explained simple, common sense ways that I could protect myself from petty purse-snatchers to a gunman in my workplace and various places in between.
I learned how to really look at my home and identify areas that needed attention and I learned where my family could go if they ever felt they were being followed. There are steps I take every day that I learned in that class that have become as natural in my life as putting on lipstick before I leave the house.
I cannot thank Cyndee enough! In a world where my daughters and I can easily spend $25 on a trip to Starbucks, knowing that the same $25 has now given us tools to stay alive is an amazing value! M.Y.
